• Both Michelin and Campagnolo recommend using a flexiable plastic rim strip for all double wall rims as pictured below and to the right. The strip should lay flat, cover the spoke holes completely and not ride up the sides of the rim.

   

• Rim tape works best on single wall rims as pictured above and to the left.
• Michelin rim strips are made from a flexiable and long lasting plastic that is easy to install and stays in place.
• Michelin rim strips strongly resist high pressures; they will not allow inner tubes to punch holes in the plastic strip or move it to one side.
• Michelin rim strips are drilled for presta valve but may be re-drilled for schrader valves. They are packaged as a set of two.

• Velox reinforced cloth rim tape is an old favorite and widely used.
• Rim tape woks best on single wall rims. If you have double wall rims like Mavic Open Pro, Campagnolo Montreals, etc. we suggest using Michelin Rim Strips.
• Velox rim tape comes in two widths;17 and 22 mm wide.
• The 17 mm width is generally used for road rims. The 22 mm wide tape fits mountain rims. Since Velox rim tape stores well you may want to pick up a roll of each size to keep in your toolbox.
• Velox 17 mm wide rim tape is drilled for presta valves but may be widened for schrader valves. The 22 mm wide tape is drilled for schrader valves but may be used with presta valves. Velox rim tapes are packaged individually.

• Aero and deep dish aero rims require that you use a longer stem presta valve.
• The Problem Solvers valve extenders come in two models, standard and deluxe, and two lengths; 34 and 50 mm.
• 34 mm extenders are often used with standard aero rims like Mavic CXP 33's, Campagnolo Moscow, etc. 50 mm valve extenders are usually used with deep dish aero rims like Spinergy, HED and Zipp 440 rims.
• The Problem Solvers Standard valve extender is pictured above and to the left. It is simply a hollow tube that threads on to your existing presta valve stem. You must wrap the valve stem with a thin layer of Teflon Thread Sealing tape (available below) before installing this extender to prevent air leakage.
• The Problem Solvers Deluxe model comes with tiny rubber O rings and a built in valve assembly. Simply slide the O ring on to your existing valve stem and then thread this extender on. The new, longer assembly works just like the original valve it now covers.
• We recommend the Deluxe model. It works well and rarely needs maintenance.
• Both models are packaged individually and come in silver only.
