Campagnolo Record 8 Speed Cassette:
- Precisely machined and beautifully finished.
- Heat treated steel cogs are carefully machined and then nickel chrome plated and hand polished.
- The smallest cog has a hardened chrome, satin silver finish for longer wear. This is the same heat treatment and finish that is now applied to all of the Record 10 speed steel cassette cogs.
- Each cog has an indented ramp, called EXA Drive, to assist in up shifting. Tooth profiles are also custom configured to help with down shifting.
- Campagnolo still produces 8 speed cassettes. In the year 2000 we saw batches come in from Italy in early spring and again in mid summer.
- For best shifting use Campagnolo's 8 speed cassettes with a Campagnolo 8 speed rear derailleur and a Campagnolo or Rohloff 8 speed chain.
- Record 8 speed cassettes can last up to 9,000 miles if you keep them clean, well lubricated and use a Rohloff chain.

Each cog is 1.9 mm thick. Campy uses 3.1 mm black resin spacers and spaces their cogs 5 mm on center. That is to say that the distance from the center of one cog to the center of the adjoining cog, measured from the center of the first cog to the center of the second cog, is 5 mm. The inside diameter of each black spacer is 33.2 mm.
- The weight of a 12-23 Record 8 speed cassette with out a lockring is just 251 grams.
- Individual cogs are listed below. They are difficult to come by so we no longer have all sizes in stock.
- Each cassette comes with 8 individual Ultra Drive cogs and 6 black resin spacers. A 29.0 mm, outside thread diameter, lockring is included.
- These cassettes will fit ALL Campagnolo Record, Chorus, Athena, Veloce, Mirage or Avanti 8 speed hubs with steel freehub bodies as pictured above. Note how the 8 splines are only 1/8 of an inch ( 3.2 mm) deep.
You may also use them on older, Campy 7 speed cassette hubs by simply discarding one cog. These cassettes will NOT fit Campy Record 8 speed alloy freehub bodies that came with all titanium cog cassettes. Scroll down this page to read about 8 speed all titanium cassettes.
